About Me, Taylor

I am a fifth year English Education and Art Education student with a concentration in Fiber Arts. I have a history working in Fashion, Art, and Literature, and in those, along with working with students, lie my passions. I am a passionate activist in raising Domestic Violence awareness, volunteering and counseling with young victims of domestic violence, LBGTQ issues and Bully Prevention. I have experience volunteering in the community and in school working in those issues, and look forward to doing more as a teacher and doing all I can to help suffering students. I have volunteered as a teacher assistant at Liberty Elementary School 3rd Grade Class and Art Class, and Woodland Park High School Art classes.  My teaching philosophy is currently in-progress, and as I hope to be constantly evolving and learning, will stay in-progress and evolve as I do. Currently my philosophy is based on the needs of the students. As an art teacher I’d like not only to teach them the skills and creativity to be an artist, but the skills to think like an artist, be a productive member of society, and the skills to be successful in school, jobs, and life. I don’t believe there is a “wrong” way to make art, and I want to impress that upon my students. As long as they are persistent, hard working, and inspired, they will make great art. I believe in building one-on-one relationships with students by treating them equally and fairly, responding with respect in any situation, and making the effort to make sure each student is learning to the best of their ability.
